The ever evolving Manchester continues to see a string of changes and new openings including a 5-star hotel, cocktail bars, celebrity restaurant and entertainment destination.

We bring the low down of some of the new and upcoming openings in Manchester:

Forty Seven: new luxury 5-star boutique hotel
Opened in June 2023
Forty Seven has opened on Peter Street, set inside a Grade II listed building.  The hotel offers 32 one and two bedroom suites, cocktails at The Peterman bar, or a meal at Asha’s, owned by Bollywood legend Asha Bhosle.

Residence Inn
Opened in May 2023
Marriott International have opened the first northern long stay property in the ever expending Ancoats area.  The property offers 155 studios and 1-bed apartments across 12 floors, on-site gym, communal laundry, coffee shop and a grocery delivery service.

Diecast
Part opening July 2023
The former metals factory is being converted to a 5,000 capacity food and entertainment destination.  The first phase has now opened featuring a daquiri bar, pizza and burger kitchen with outdoor beer garden. When fully complete, Diecast will be a 5,000-capacity venue with a night market, brewery, and large-scale festival stage.

Bunsik
Opened July 2023
The Korean TikTok viral restaurant has quickly become famed for its crunchy, cheesy corndogs which have seen queues grow around Piccadilly Gardens.  The restaurant also services noodle and rice dishes as well as some delicious Korean-style chicken.

Half Dozen Other
Opened July 2023
Responsible for all the tasty treats at Manchester’s coffee chain Pot Kettle Black, Half Dozen Other has opened a new site in the up-and-coming Red Bank neighbourhood. The bakery will be serving sweet and savoury pastries from its industrial warehouse-style bakery.

Lucky Cat
Opened June 2023
Gordon Ramsay’s Tokyo-inspired restaurant (pictured above) has opened in Manchester in the Grade II listed former bank on King Street which was home to Jamie Oliver’s now closed restaurant.  The venue is inspired by drinking dens of 1930s Tokyo, the Manchester-branch of the Mayfair restaurant spans over three floors, including the impressive former bank vault.

Madre
Opened June 2023
The Liverpool restaurant has opened its first branch in Manchester within the Kampus neighbourhood.  The 90-cover restaurant is described as a ‘love letter to Mexico City’, and offers a split menu of snacks, oyster and raw bar, tacos, and wood-fired dishes, alongside over 100 tequilas and mezcals.

Gail’s Bakery
Opened June 2023
After successful openeings in Wilmslow and Altrincham earlier this year Gail’s Bakery has opened to much fanfair on King Street offering baked eats such as strawberry and ricotta cakes.  The venue also features two floors of seating and an outdoor area.

Red Light Red Light
Opened May 2023
The LGBTQ+ cocktail bar has opened at Kampus adjacent to Manchester’s famous Canal Street.  The bar is set inside a Victoria Warehouse offering exposed brick, cosy corners and original warehouse features alongside a selection of signature cocktails in a speakeasy style venue

Higher Ground
Soon after its February 2023 openeing, Higher Ground has now been listed at number 51 in the top 100 restaurants in the UK.  Not bad for a restaurant which started as a four-week pop-up in Kampus before landing its own permanent site.
