Canadian indie-pop artist Olivia Lunny has shared her new album Velvet & Denim accompanied by a visualiser for the title track.
The title track itself was originally written eight years ago, ultimately setting the tone for the 12-song album. Amongst the other tracks on the album are the previously released confidence anthem Marilyn, gritty love song Heaven and ode to LA industry life City of Angels. The album itself looks at duality, the tension between softness and strength. It offers a glimpse in to her world, looking at the various versions of themselves that people can be.
Speaking about the album, Olivia Lunny explained, “VELVET & DENIM is about the dance between elegance and edge. The quiet moments and the chaos, the beauty in contrast. It’s a love letter to the in-between, to late-night drives through Los Angeles, to heartbreak and healing, and becoming. These songs tell stories that are delicate, gritty and extremely honest. The soundtrack to loving, loss, and dreams being chased.”
Over the festival period Olivia Lunny will be performing at Isle of Wight Festival, Lido Festival and Pinkpop. She will also support Justin Timberlake at Belfast’s Belsonic and Dublin’s Malahide Castle as well as supporting Banks in London in October.
