Manchester’s Museum of Illusions will mark World Autism Month with an all-day sensory-friendly experience.
The Museum has offered bookable Sensory Sessions since opening in 2024. These sessions are designed to create a welcoming and calming environment with dimmed lights, reduced sound levels and lower sensory input.
Now, to mark World Autism Month, the Museum of Illusions will adopt these adjustments for a full day on 29 April. The move aims to recognise the importance of raising awareness of neurodiversity and helping visitors feel more comfortable and supported in their visit.
The museum will also provide complimentary sensory kits (including ear defenders and fidget toys), and has team members who have undergone autism awareness training, clearly identifiable and available to assist throughout the day.
Manchester’s Museum of Illusions features more than 50 interactive exhibits including gravity-defying rooms, optical illusions and holograms.
