Manchester City footballer and piano player Nathan Ake has donated a digital piano to Band On The Wall.  The gift forms part of his donation project Playing For Change alongside Casio Music UK.  The partnership aims to ensure all children can experience a musical education.

The donation to Band On The Wall is in recognition of its work on the Manchester music scene, particularly in running community events including a Saturday music club and youth band.

Celebrating International Piano Day on Saturday 29th March, Band on the Wall, a not-for-profit youth music organisation, received a brand new Casio PX-S7000 digital piano, on behalf of Nathan and Casio Music UK. Members got to try it out immediately during the Saturday Music Club session.

The scheme followed Nathan Ake’s time learning the piano during the first Covid-19 lockdown which he credits with improve mental wellbeing, health and focus time.  The Playing For Change project came about a year ago.

Alongside Band on the Wall’s community work, the venue has a long partnership with Manchester College, so Nathan’s donation will be used to help deliver their music courses, providing more young people with an opportunity to study music. Band on the Wall even runs a weekly youth band, in partnership with local charity Community Arts Northwest.
