Kae Tempest is building towards the release of his new studio album Self Titled. The album lands on 4 July via Island Records and marks his fifth studio release.
In support of the album release, Kae Tempest will head out on a string of instore and festival dates across the summer including Liverpool’s Rough Trade. He will also be performing a Glastonbury, Deer Shed Festival and Cardiff Castle.
Following the summer run Kae Tempest will hit the road again in November for a string of headline shows. He will headline a Manchester gig at the Albert Hall. The Manchester gig is one of four UK dates he has confirmed for the tour which will open at London’s O2 Academy Brixton.
New 12-track album Self Titled promises to be Kae Tempest’s most intimate and revealing to date. The album is expected to find Kae Tempest reconnecting with his hip hop roots, whilst blending contemporary pop. It will mark a love letter to his youngest self, shaped by the people, places and experiences which define him. It’s largely written in the first person to truly hone in on his own story.
The album also features guest appearances from Neil Tennant, Young Fathers, Connie Constance and Tawiah.
Kae Tempest has released four critically acclaimed studio albums, as well as numerous books, plays and poetry collections, including Brand New Ancients, which saw him become the first person under 40 to receive the Ted Hughes Award in 2013. For his music, Kae won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song in 2024, following two previous Ivor Novello nominations in 2020 and a BRIT Award nomination in 2018. He has been shortlisted for the Mercury Prize twice (Let Them Eat Chaos in 2017 and Everybody Down in 2014).
