Jaws The Shark has shared his latest single, the last before the release of his debut album in July.

Jaws The Shark’s debut album, Wasteland, lands ahead of a UK tour opening with gigs in Manchester and Liverpool.  He opens the tour with a date at Liverpool’s Kazimer Stockroom and then follow the next day with a Manchester gig at 33 Oldham Street.

The Manchester and Liverpool gigs are two of six UK dates he will play in September.

New track Last Train To Santa Fe marks a song style that Jaws The Shark (aka Olly Bailey) had rarely experimented with.  Starting off soft and sombre, the track builds to a powerful crescendo.  As Olly Bailey explains, “I wrote Last Train to Santa Fe after listening to a lot of Nick Cave. For some time I’d been trying to write a song that starts slow, yet is melodic and tells a story throughout. It’s a method of songwriting that I’ve not experimented much with yet in my career.”

The artist wrote the 11-track album entirely himself.  It features production from previous collaborator George Perks.  Olly Bailey was joined in the recording at VADA Recording Studios by bassist Brendan O’Boyle and Dinosaur Pile-Up’s Michael Sheils on drums.

He says of the album, “Wasteland is an album that I’d been wanting to write for some time now, and one that I’m really proud of personally.  Some of the tracks that I write wouldn’t necessarily be put into the Jaws The Shark category when you look back at what I’ve released previously, but I wanted this album to show off some of my versatility that I like to explore when writing songs.”

When does Jaws The Shark release debut album Wasteland?

Jaws The Shark will release debut album Wasteland on 19 July.

Olly Bailey launched the album campaign earlier this year with the single California, followed shortly afterwards by Got It Made.
