New York-based indie rock band Hello Mary will perform at Manchester Psych Fest in August.  The set follows the recent release of their latest single 0%.

0% finds the trio (Helena Straight, Stella Wave and Mikaela Oppenheimer) retuning with heavy guitars, bass, punk drums and a 90’s inspired sound.  Hello Mary veered into heavy and distorted territory for the track, making an evolution from the grungy sounds on last year’s self-titled album.

Speaking about the track, Hello Mary said, “0% is one of our favourites to play live.  Our inspirations in the last year have broadened, and we feel like this song reflects that.”

0% emerged naturally as the trio were jamming in their practice space. After becoming a crowd favourite live, it really came to life in the studio.  It was the first time drummer/vocalist Wave had ever screamed on a song. Yet when she hopped in the recording booth, she was emboldened to draw out the shout vocals the band had originally planned, turning them into longer screams.

The track is accompanied by a video editing by Caroline Knight featuring footage the band took over a couple of tours.

Hello Mary will head over to the UK over the summer for a string of festival appearances and support slots with American Football.  Hello Mary’s festival appearances will include Manchester Psych Fest and End of the Road Festival.
