Emmma has shared her latest single Wednesday’s Child, as she explores a relationship which was very much a one-way effort.  The single lands ahead of a Manchester gig at The Castle later this month.

New single Wednesday’s Child finds Emmma embracing synths and a sparse, metronomic beat, thundering drums and dramatic vocals.  It delves in to emotions and finds a wave of relief as she comes to terms with what was happening.  Emmma wrote hte track alongside Jack Dean and Eden Rain.

The title to the track came from a Wednesday’s Child phrase on a sticker she found in a pub bathroom.  The phrase ‘Wednesday’s child is full of woe’ struck a chord with Emmma and eventually became a cathartic exercise.

As she explains, “I’ve never cried to a song I’ve written before, but I did then.  It perfectly encapsulated how I felt in that relationship – the anger, the frustration, the sadness and empathy. And it still hits me in that way each time, I think that’s what makes it so special.”

Wednesday’s Child lands as Emmma moves towards her second EP.  The new release will follow last year’s debut Secondary Character.  It features on the new EP alongside the recent single Cut The Breaks and marks a taste of the inspiration she found following a break-up.

Emmma will perform at Manchester’s The Castle Hotel in May, supporting JC Stewart.
