easyJet has launched five inaugural flights this week from Manchester Airport with new direct services to Izmir (Turkey), Kalamata (Greece), Larnaca (Cyprus), Madrid (Spain) and Rennes (France).
To support this growth, the airline has added a second Airbus A321 neo to its Manchester base—its 23rd aircraft operating from the city—bringing over 400 new direct and indirect jobs and a projected £27 million in UK gross value added (GVA).
The A321 neo is part of easyJet’s fleet modernisation and offers up to 50% less noise and 20% improved fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation of aircraft.
Speaking about the new routes which are helping easyJet operates its largest ever summer season from Manchester, Ali Gayward, UK Country Manager at easyJet, commented, “It’s fantastic to be celebrating five new routes from Manchester taking off for the first time this week supported by the arrival of an extra aircraft. All the new routes offer something for everyone, from shorter city breaks to some real beach holiday favourites and package getaways available via easyJet holidays.
We are providing more choice for customers from across the North-West who choose us for our unrivalled network, fantastic service and great value fares.”
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, added “We are proud to connect people from across the North with the places they want to visit, so it’s fantastic to see easyJet basing an additional aircraft at Manchester this summer and expanding its route network, offering passengers more choice than ever before.”
