David Gray will headline at Manchester’s O2 Apollo later this month as the multi-platinum selling singer-songwriter brings his Past & Present tour to the city. As well as the Manchester gig he will also headline at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall. The Manchester and Liverpool gigs are amongst 27 UK and Ireland dates he will play over the next few months. The run includes sets at Cheltenham Jazz Festival and a huge gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The tour comes in support of his latest album, Dear Life, which has drawn critical acclaim for its depth and emotional intensity.
The Past & Present tour marks a major milestone in David Gray’s career. Following the success of White Ladder, one of the UK’s best-selling albums, Gray continues to evolve as an artist. Dear Life, his thirteenth studio album features introspective themes and lush orchestral arrangements. The lead single, Plus & Minus, featuring Talia Rae, showcases Gray’s ability to craft poignant narratives with compelling melodies. It takes on crisis, resolution, mortality, faith, love, heartbreak and more.
Gray himself has spoken about the album’s personal significance, saying, “A lot has happened to me. There’s been change on so many levels, all the ups and downs and dramas and tragedies and joys that the slow movement through life brings. This record has been a reckoning with stuff that’s been building up like static for years. But I say this with joy and a smile on my face. I know what I’ve done is as good as anything I could possibly do.”
