Billie Marten has shared new single titled Clover, the fifth track from her forthcoming album Dog EaredBillie Marten will release Dog Eared on Friday 18th July via Fiction Records.

In support of the album Billie Marten will perform instore at Manchester’s HMV and Bury’s Wax and Beans.  She will return to the city for a headline Manchester gig at Manchester Academy 2 in November.

Clover follows the earlier releases Swing, Crown, Feeling, and Leap Year, and is described by Marten as “built of contradictions and oxymorons”. The song was shared alongside a visualiser and is available to stream now.

Speaking about the track, Billie Marten described it as, “A song about feeling small but needing to appear big. It’s a note on power and inequality. Most of this record talks about age and experience and relevance, something that’s clogged my mind since I began music. I carry a lot of premature worry with me, and that’s something that comes from starting an adult life as a teenager I suppose. I gained the human affliction of inventing things before they happen. I’m a multitude of anxieties.”

Dog Eared is the fifth album from the Yorkshire-born, London-based artist Billie Marten. The album was recorded in New York during summer 2024 with producer Phil Weinrobe at Sugar Mountain studio. Contributing musicians include Núria Graham, Josh Crumbly, Mike Haldeman, Shahzad Ismaily, Sam Evian, Maia Friedman, Mauro Refosco, Vishal Nayak, Michael Coleman, and Sam Amidon.

Since the release of her 2023 album Drop Cherries, Marten has toured extensively and developed the material which now appears on Dog Eared.
