Austin-based Bee Blackwell has shared her new single Claws, the latest taste of upcoming EP Nine Lives.
Bee Blackwell wrote, self-produced and recorded the EP across three days. The EP took shape during a period of free time following her SXSW debut in Austin Texas and a string of energetic shows around the state.
Nine Lives promises to tell of surviving chaos and coming out of the other side better than ever. It is set to offer introspection, daring, creativity and vulnerability. The creation of the EP served as a personal diary entry, exposing struggles, emotional hardships and life goals.
New single Claws delves in to the contradictions of connection and vulnerability. As Bee Blackwell explains, “CLAWS is the struggle of being caught between wanting connection and fearing vulnerability. Expressing emotion is hard, being a control freak is even harder.”
The track lands alongside a music video which pays homage to a 1993 live performance from shoegaze artists Swirlies.
The first taste of Nine Lives landed previously with the daydream, and melodic guitars of LALALA.
Bee Blackwell releases Nine Lives on 20 June 2025.
