Anna Lapwood has announced a run of UK and Ireland tour dates including a gig at Manchester Cathedral. The Manchester date is one of six she has confirmed.
News of the tour comes as Anna Lapwood shares her new single Flight. The track marks the fourth single from her upcoming album Firedove. The celebrated organist will release her new album Firedove on 30 May via Sony Classical.

The track was originally composed by Rachel Portman for violin and piano. Speaking about the new arrangement, Anna Lapwood explained, “I’m very grateful to her for allowing us to create this version. We were imagining that the saxophone represented a bird soaring through and above the clouds, while the organ represents the clouds and the wind, gently carrying the bird on its journey. Jess is a great friend, and I’ve admired her sound and ethos for a long time. Getting to finally play alongside her and experiment with how that sound can mix with the organ felt like such a special moment.“
Anna Lapwood’s winter dates follow a busy summer which includes two headline shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The December tour will feature music from Firedove, a record described by Lapwood as her most personal to date. Speaking about the album, Anna Lapwood said, “I wanted to create an album where the listener doesn’t quite know where it’s going to go next. There are lots of little easter eggs in there that you wouldn’t expect – even the first appearance of the choir – and a through-line of flight and spreading wings, because this does feel as though I’ve found what I want to say as an artist. I’m very proud of it.”
