Anna Erhard will headline at Manchester’s YES this week in support of her new album Botanical Garden.

The album landed in September in anticipation of a run of seven UK dates and a wider European tour.

New album Botanical Garden marks Anna Erhard’s third album.  She released her debut Short Cut in 2021, showcasing her versatility featuring guitar hooks, electronic textures and samples and crisp vocals; whilst 2022 follow-up Campsite featuring nostalgia and landing praised from the likes of BBC 6’s Marc Riley, Steve Lamacq and Lauren Laverne as well as Radio X’s John Kennedy.

Now, Botanical Garden moves from taking on huge concepts to celebrating the minutiae of the everyday.  “The songs I wrote in the beginning were really big and universal”, she reflects. “Now I feel I condense my writing to the smallest possible thing, almost.”  The album finds her still looking at modern life, pursuit of happiness and achieving inner growth despite comparisons with others.  “All the songs are kind of about comparing and rating somehow” she adds, “that was really a big topic on this album”.

The album features recent single Not Rick, which found her taking a philosophical path before finding confusion following a tarot reading.

As Anna Erhard explained of the track and its origins, “This woman did a tarot card reading for me and she was completely freaking out and said that this is my last life and I am gonna be enlightened next! She was really way more excited than I was about this news.”
